It took me two days to find a copy of the launch issue of NewsNow, Media24’s new weekly news magazine. It’s probably the only copy I’ll buy.
NewsNow is 48 pages of news summaries and pictures from around the world. Everything from politics to sport to entertainment is covered in those crowded.
I obviously don’t fit the typical NewsNow reader profile, so it would be unfair to suggest that the whole NewsNow concept is without merit, but it did get me thinking about what I value in media. And it comes down to this:
I don’t need more news headlines or summaries in my life. I have those in spades thanks to TV, radio and social media. What I want is context, analysis, entertainment.
